In the last sunday's column, dedicated to bibliophilia, of the magazine Il Sole 24 Ore's Vanni Scheiwiller wrote about his experience as editor of precious, unreleased and always special books.
So I remembered a book printed by him in 1957, when the publishing house was already having a different name - All'insegna del Pesce d'Oro (from a restaurant where Vanni and his friends used to hang out) and supervisor: Vanni himself, succeeding his father.
The book is somehow a document of the Ezra Pound's presence in Italy, whose official publisher for years was Scheiwiller.
It is the catalogue of the exhibition organized by Vanni and Guido Le Noci at the Apollinaire gallery in Milan, which in that years was helding very important events for the contemporary art.
On that occasion Pound made an homage to the sculptor Henry Gaudier-Brzeska, who was part of the Vorticism (the name was invented by Pound himself).
Athough it had many relations with Futurism, which are evident also in this book, the movement was born against Cubism and Futurism.
The catalogue was printed in 500 numbered copies and at the moment its estimations goes from 70 to 170 euros. There is one copy available at the renowned Studio Bibliografico Marini, specialized in art books from 60s.
