Non è un instant book, perché è stato stampato nel 2006. Ma è come se lo fosse, perché improvvisamente è diventato "il libro del momento".

Un paio di giorni fa seguo per caso un'asta impazzita di un libro apparentemente di scarsa importanza collezionistica: un testo che indaga il ruolo della chiesa nella dittatura argentina.

Tutto "normale", se non fosse che nel libro - e il dubbio mi venne immediatamente - si fa anche il nome del nuovo papa Bergoglio. Vado così a controllare su Internet e vedo che la questione si trova in molti dibattiti online, anche presso testate importanti. Evidentemente l'elezione di Bergoglio ha posto alla ribalta questo testo.

Infine vado a controllare la disponibilità del libro e noto che ci sono tante copie ancora in commercio online, ad un prezzo molto inferiore a quello dell'asta, che si aggirava intorno agli 80 euro. Come si spiega questa follia? Alle volte ebay riesce davvero a stupire! 

Si comprende, così, che spesso la rarità o il fatto che un libro sia ricercato è dato dalla sua fortuna in un dato momento, che ovviamente può scemare con il suo passare.

Una domanda, infine, sorge spontanea: la Fandango - peraltro romana - ristamperà questo libro?

It's not an instant book, because it was written in 2006. But it's near to be it, because it suddenly became "the book of the moment".

A couple of days ago I've followed by chance a crazy auction on ebay selling a book apparently without importance in terms of collecting: a book researching connections between Argentine dictatorship and the Chearch.

Everything "normal" if it wasn't for the name written in it: the one of the new pope Bergoglio. The doubt came immediatelly on my mind.

So I went on the Internet and saw that the book is discussed in many websites, also very important. Clearly the election of Bergoglio has brought this text to people's attention.
Than I checked out its availability: there were many copies available for much less than the 80 euros of the auction - how can we explain this crazy fact? ebay always surprises me.

All this to say that usually the fact that a text is rare or sought after is related to its connection with the actuality and, therefore, it also may go down with time. 

To conclude, a question comes out: will Fandango - by the way based in Rome - reprint this book?
