Lo scandaloso, irriverente e provocatorio scrittore americano Charles Bukowski, spesso avvicinato alla letteratura beat, pubblicò questa raccolta di racconti in un anno colmo di eventi per lui: la popolarità è ormai consacrata, il pubblico e la critica parla - non sempre bene - di lui e le opere si vendono. 

I racconti furono scritti tra il '67 e il '69 per la rubrica omonima del settimanale underground Open City, come apprendo dall'interessante blog Archivio Carta Stampata. 

Un ottimo testo critico sulla sua fortuna e le vicende editoriali delle sue opere è Charles Bukowski: Autobiographer, Gender Critic, Iconoclast scritto da David Charlson nel 2005.

La prima edizione americana del libro è già molto ben quotata e oscilla tra i 100 e i 300 euro. Per quanto riguarda la prima edizione italiana, invece, è offerta dalla libreria Arengario a 80 euro, ma su ebay è possibile trovarla anche a 10. Chissà se diventerà mai un testo ricercato dai collezionisti nostrani?

A breve studierò più approfonditamente le edizioni italiane di Bukowski e tornerò sull'argomento.

The scandalous, irreverent and provocatory American writer Charles Bukowski, oftenly included in beat literature, have published this collection of stories in a year full of events for him: the fame was consecrated, the public and the critic was talking - not always good - about him and his works were sold good.

The stories were written between '67 and '69 for the namesake column of the underground magazine Open City, as I've red in the interesting blog Archivio Carta Stampata.

A good critical text about the fortune and editorial events of his works is Charles Bukowski: Autobiographer, Gender Critic, Iconoclast by David Charlson (2005).

The first american edition of the book is already good estimated and goes from 100 to 300 euros. For what regards the first italian edition, it is offered by the library Arengario for 80 euros, but on ebay it is possible to find it for 10. Who knows if one day this text would be sought after by our collectors?
