William Klein's New York

William Klein, Life is good & good for you in New York! 1954-55,  (ristampa) , Errata, 2010

Buoni acquisti!

One of the most renowned singers of New York in street version certainly was William Klein.
Very simple photos, almost always of people, always very spontaneous and happy.
For those who want to admire them nearly, until march 12 they're showed in the exhibition at the Foam Museum 3h of Amsterdam.
For the occasion I couldn't suggest one of the most foundamental photographic catalogues ever: his Life is good & good for you in New York, unusually printed only in Paris by the Editions du Seuil in 1956, then in Great Britain and Italy. That's because America of that years didn't like all the street people: they didn't respond to the ideal image of the Americam dream!
A very must have book if you want to collect photographic catalogues, at a price that unfortunatelly goes from 500 or even 5000 euros. And the italian edition is valued too (Feltrinelli, 1956): at the link of the Libreria Marini you can know more.
Anyway, to save the less important wallets, there is fortunately a reprint of it by Errata, available on Amazon.
Happy shopping!
