Il collezionista di rarità novecentesche Giampiero Mughini lo definisce "imperdibile" per chi, come me e voi lettori, si definisce in qualche modo "bibliofolle".

Oliviero Diliberto, altro maestro del collezionismo di libri rari, lo cita nel suo appassionante La biblioteca stregata: tracce dei libri di Theodor Mommsen in Italia (Robin, Roma 2003, p.36), di cui magari un giorno parlerò.

In una parola, La febbre dei libri dell'editore e libraio antiquario milanese Alberto Vigevani è una vera preziosità.

Per quanto mi riguarda, è stato uno dei libri che mi ha "formata" e portata ad appassionarmi in questa misura al collezionismo librario. Devo ammettere che conservo una copia del libro fittamente sottolineata e annotata, che rileggo quando mi ricordo di qualche aneddoto.

La febbre dei libri è un testo stampato un anno dopo la morte dell'autore, che nel corso della sua vita pubblicò opere che esulano pressoché totalmente dall'argomento trattato in questo libro. Vigevani qui parla della sua esperienza di libraio antiquario, occupazione che lo portò a viaggiare molto, soprattutto a Parigi, alla ricerca di libri rari. Sempre con grande entusiasmo e sempre, o spesso, con esiti fortuiti.

Le persone che lo conobbero sicuramente avranno atteso questo libro con ansia, e sono certa che non sono rimasti insoddisfatti!

For what concerns my case, it has "formed" me and took me to the world of book collecting. I have to admit that I have a furiously underlined and annotated copy that I use to re-read when an anecdote comes to my mind.

La febbre dei libri is a book published a year after the author's death and it is totally different from the other books he has published during his life. Vigevani here talks about his experience as antiquarian bookseller, when he used to travel a lot, especially in Paris, searching enthusiastically for rare books and always, or at least often, coming back home with trouvailles.

I'm sure that all the people who knew Vigevani, were expecting this book impatiently and I'm sure that they didn't remain disappointed!
