Vogliamo tutto / We want it all

Non so dirvi se sia preoccupante il fatto che questo genere di cose mi commuovano. Ma di fatto è così. 

Andatevi a scaricare (o, ancora meglio, acquistare) uno degli ultimi cataloghi dello Studio Bibliografico L'Arengario e vi assicuro che succederà anche a voi.

Il titolo Vogliamo Tutto (Arte e poesia negli anni di piombo (1967-1982) è ripreso dallo slogan che utilizzarono gli operai della Fiat durante gli scioperi “a gatto selvaggio” del 1969. Ma è anche un libro di Nanni Balestrini, poeta visivo molto noto in ambiente di neoavanguardia.

Il tema del catalogo è proprio questo torno d'anni, delimitato da due eventi che simbolicamente lo aprono e poi lo richiudono: l'invasione dell’8 agosto 1967 a Fiumalbo, in provincia di Firenze, quando un centinaio di artisti d’avanguardia provenienti dall’Italia e dall’Europa animarono il piccolo paese di performances artistiche, teatrali, musicali, e i muri furono tappezzati di poesie e manifesti suscitando grande scandalo. 

E il periodo che va dal 19 marzo al 14 giugno del 1982, quando avvenne un’altra invasione, quella che contrappose Argentina e Regno Unito nella guerra delle Isole Falkland, a cui si riferisce «Ready for War», un volantino in cui si raccomanda, davanti alla nuova era del conflitto globale, di “non attendersi nulla e non legarsi a nessuna prospettiva”, perché il destino dell’umanità è segnato e non ci sarà futuro (cito dall'introduzione al catalogo).

Tutto ciò che sta in mezzo è storia: crisi economica seguita al boom dei primi anni Sessanta, il ‘68 e il ‘77, l’emancipazione della donna, le radio libere, la musica pop & rock, l’eroina e molto, moltissimo altro.

Personalmente rimango basita di fronte a questo genere di ricerche, meticolosissime ed entusiasmanti, dove anche il singolo frammento viene recuperato e valorizzato.

Un aspetto che poi amo è la fusione in catalogo di libri, ephemera e fotografie, che permettono al collezionista di approfondire l'argomento e aiutano la mente a rivivere letteralmente un preciso momento storico.

Il libro di cui sopra è solo una delle tante preziosità che troverete offerte in vendita. 

L'ho scelto perché l'edizione privata fu una modalità molto utilizzata a quel tempo, vuoi per ragioni di ristrettezze economiche in cui versavano gli artisti, vuoi anche per motivi di censura.

La copertina delle prime 99 copie è stata interamente illustrata dall'artista e reca un ritratto fatto a Buggiani dal notissimo fotografo Ugo Mulas (a questo proposito vedi mio post).

The title is Vogliamo Tutto (Arte e poesia negli anni di piombo (1967-1982) and is taken by the slogan that Fiat labors used during a protest in 1969. But it's also the title of a Nanni Balestrini's book, the visual poet renowned in avant-garde milieus. 

The topic of the catalogue is what happened during that age, delimited by two events that simbolically open and close it: the invasion in August 8, 1967 in Fiumalbo, in province of Florence, when thousand of avant-garde artists coming from Italy and Europe organized some theatrical, musical and artistic performances and the walls were covered by poems and scandalous manifests.

The other date is between March 19 and June 14 1982, when there was another invasion: the one that brought Argentina and the United Kingdom against each other for Faulkland Islands. The flyer "Ready for War" referes to that event and it suggests not to "attend anything or trust in any perspective", for the human destiny is already decided and there won't be any future (I'm quoting from the introduction of the catalogue).

All that stays between these two dates is history: recession, economic boom of the Sixties, the '68 and '77, women emancipation, free radios, pop and rock music, heroin and much, much more.

Personally I'm so surprised in front of these kind of researches, very meticolous and enthusiastic, where every fragment is recovered and valued.

Moreover, I like a lot the fusion of catalogues, ephemera and photographs, which allow collectors to dive into the topic and they help to literally live again that moments.

The book below is just one the of the many precious books for sale. I choosed it  because the private edition was a highly used modality at that times, due to both economical and censure reasons.

The cover of the the first 99 copies was entirely illustrated by the artist and it has a portrait of Buggiani made by the famous photographer Ugo Mulas (look my post).
