Le persone che mi hanno seguita fin dal principio sapranno che ogni tanto faccio anche incursioni nel panorama librario estero, soprattutto americano e inglese, che tanto mi - e spero ci - affascina.
Ed eccovi una bella e rara edizione di crime anglosassone.
Questo spy thriller ha la particolarità di essere ambientato nell'Italia fascista (e per questo attira anche il collezionista italiano) ed è uno dei primi capolavori dello scrittore inglese.
La prima edizione inglese è più rara e collezionata di quella americana, nonostante siano entrambe ben valutate; per un'edizione completa di sovraccoperta ci aggiriamo sui 200-300 euro per quella Knopf, e sui 500-1000 per quella Hodder & Stoughton.
Il fatto curioso è che l'edizione inglese è ben valutata anche senza sovraccoperta, mentre quella americana arriva a costare 5 dollari se essa è mancante. Stranezze del collezionismo!
Per concludere, voglio condividere con voi il mio rammarico in merito al panorama nostrano: Cause for alarm per quanto mi risulti (se ne sapete qualcosa aiutatemi!) è stato stampato soltanto nel 2006 da Adelphi con il titolo Motivo di allarme. Pertanto non mi è possibile fornirvi una bella versione d'epoca!

This spy thriller has the peculiarity that it's set in the Italian Fascism age (and so is collected by Italians too) and is one of this writer's masterpieces.
The first English edition is not rare and collected as the American one, although both are valued: the first Knopf's with the dustjacket costs around 200-300 euros, the Hodder & Stoughton one around 500-1000 euros.
The curious fact is that the English edition is good valued also without the dustjacket, instead the American costs even 5 dollars if this is missing. Strange things of the collecting!
To conclude, I want to share with with you my delusion about the Italian side: for what I've seen Cause for alarm has been printed only in 2006 by Adelphi with the title Motivo di allarme. So I couldn't give you a good old version of it!
