Finalmente anche la mia città si è dotata di una libreria antiquaria vera e propria (con annessa casa editrice), che produce cataloghi e sta iniziando ad essere attiva in ambito nazionale.
Era dai tempi di Umberto Saba che non accadeva, quando la sua storica libreria in via San Nicolò partecipava attivamente agli eventi antiquari e produceva cataloghi di vendita (per saperne di più leggetevi Libreria Antiquaria Umberto Saba catalogo primo (1923) e altri scritti sulla libreria, a cura di Massimo Gatta, Biblohaus, Macerata 2011).
Oggi purtroppo è ridotta al totale disinteresse di istituzioni e proprietari, rimanendo soltanto un flebile ricordo di quello che fu un tempo.
Tornando alla Drogheria 28, il suo nome è dovuto al fatto che un tempo quegli spazi ospitavano una farmacia vera e propria. Infatti il negozio conserva ancora gli arredi originali in legno e pure tutti i flaconi, le provette e i tubetti risalenti agli anni '20 del Novecento.
Riporto dal sito della libreria: "A Trieste, in zona Cavana, dietro Piazza Hortis, dove campeggia la statua di Italo Svevo e la biblioteca civica, in un palazzo sito in Via Ciamician 6 (nel quartiere che presentava la tipografia degli Armeni) vi era una vecchia drogheria, fondata nel 1928, che aveva anche la concessione per vendere medicinali. (...) mancavano solo i libri: ora ci sono e fanno da anima pulsante di una casa editrice (SVSB Editore) e di una libreria antiquaria dove poter vedere ed acquistare manufatti di carte e dove poter assistere a incontri, presentazioni, mostre."
Il materiale chiaramente riguarda soprattutto Trieste e gli scrittori triestini di primo Novecento, ma avendo avuto questa città uno straordinario effetto accentratore di talenti della penna (si pensi, oltre a Saba, a nomi importanti come Italo Svevo, James Joyce, Virgilio Giotti o Carlo Michaelstaedter - di cui tra l'altro la libreria ha in vendita i libri personali -), l'offerta risulta di alto livello.

Unfortunatelly now this library is totally abandoned by istitutions and its owners, remaining only a weak memory of what it was.
Going back to Drogheria 28, its name has been given because once that spaces were hosting a pharmacy. In fact the shop still has its original wood furniture and all the bottles and test tubes from the 20s.
I'm quoting from the website of the library: "In Trieste, in Cavana block, behind Piazza Hortis where the sculpture of Italo Svevo is and the civic library, in a palace based in Via Ciamician 6 (the block of the old Armenian tipography) there was an old pharmacy, founded in 1928 which was had a permission to sell medicins. (...) only books were missing: now they are. The soul of the publishing house (SVSB Editore) and the antiquarian library. A place where you can buy precious papers and partecipate to events, exhibition openings and much more."
Clearly there are mainly books about Trieste and its authors of the first part of XX century, but the fact that in that age this town captured a huge number of talents (just to give an example: Italo Svevo, James Joyce, Virgilio Giotti or Carlo Michaelstaedter - by the way whose personal library has been bought by Drogheria 28 and is for sale) makes the offer quite interesting.
